This vintage police whistle pendant was handcrafted around 1930, in London. It was made in sterling silver by Asprey and Company Limited and would have been owned and worn by a British policeman. It weighs 16.8 grams and measures 70 x 15.5 mm. It is fully hallmarked and bears the word, “ASPREY”, the maker’s mark, “A & C. Ltd”, the lion passant for English sterling silver, and the leopard head for London.

Asprey was founded in Surrey, in 1781, as a silk printing business which has shifted into the luxury institute that exists today. They crafted coronets, crowns, and scepters for royal families around the world. Their first royal warrant was granted to them by Queen Victoria, in 1862. From commissioning a necklace for Princess Margaret to a chess set for Ringo Starr, to five trunks for the Maharaja of Patiala for each of his five wives, Asprey knows a thing or two about craftsmanship. Quality in style and design shows in everything they do, whether it be the detailed work of the recreated Queen Elizabeth II’s diamond diadem, or this simple police whistle that still works after nearly a century.

This wonderful whistle would make an excellent addition to the jewelry collectors box of baubles.
