Sometimes it’s the simplest things that mean the most to us. The crepe pan your grandmother used, the letter opener that always sat on your dad’s desk. Simple, precious objects, that remind us of love, that connect us. This cross feels like that to me, a simple reminder of a lost someone, a gentle nod to faith and hope.

This Victorian cross is simple and smooth and wonderful. Carved from black English Jet, a coal-like mineral found in the ancient peat bogs around Whitby, England, this light weight and wonderful cross is that perfect not-too-big, not-too-small size pendant. It measures 64 mm north to south and 37.2 mm across, it’s 4.4 mm thick. It has a couple of very tiny flea bites due to age, but is in remarkably good condition, it is set with a silver top and bale. This lovely is unmarked but we’ve tested the metal as silver and it weighs 9.9 grams.
