This astonishing antique opal and diamond gold ring was handcrafted around 1900. There are five oval cabochon precious opals that make up the petals of a pansy or forget-me-not flower with a diamond at the center and five more diamonds for extra sparkle, all set in 14 karat gold. This ring has truly lovely opals, and they are very well matched so I suspect they are all original to the ring. They’re giving off neon shades of pink, green, blue, and more, accenting the glittery diamonds just perfectly. The five opals weigh a total of approximately 2.09 carats. The center diamond measures 2.7 mm in diameter and 1.5 mm in depth, it weighs approximately .07 carats. The other five diamonds total approximately .05 carats. The ring face measures 17.4 x 16.8 x 3.5 mm and the band width is 1.6 mm at the back. This ring is a size 6.5 and it weighs 3.1 grams. It has been acid tested.

A note from Victoria: Opals sometimes get a bad rap as being a fragile stone. Mostly this is because they can get brittle if they dry out, they love to be worn as the humidity from your finger is enough to prevent this. If you live in a dry climate, it’s best to keep your opal in a sealed plastic baggie when it’s not on your finger. Better yet, just wear it all the time!!
