Antique Gold Art Nouveau Pearl Amethyst Pendant Antiquaria

After picking up this beauty on Portobello Road, I ducked into Gail’s bakery for a ham and gruyere croissant, a guilty (and oh, so worth it) pleasure, and a cappuccino. The sun had hardly risen and my hangry level was leaning toward the extreme. I’d barely taken a bite before the barista complimented my necklace, and so did the couple behind me. I’d forgotten I was even wearing it, in my hunger I’d worn it right of the shop. What can I say? When you have good taste, you have good taste.

This antique Art Nouveau gold amethyst pendant was handcrafted in England, right around 1910. It showcases the whiplash lines and curves that are the staple of the Nouveau style. It is done in 9 karat gold with a rosy hue, and supports an oval amethyst and a river pearl drop and it is set with an additional two small, creamy pearls. The amethyst measures 9 x 7 x 4 mm and weighs approximately 1.34 carats. It bears the hallmark, “9ct” and it weighs 2.1 grams. The pendant measures 40 mm north to south including the bale and 24 mm across.
